Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Recommend wines based on guests' preferences, dining choices, and menu selections.
  • Provide professional wine service in accordance with established etiquette and service standards.
  • Educate guests on wine characteristics, regions, grape varieties, and suitable food pairings.
  • Assist in managing and updating the restaurant's wine list to reflect current offerings and selections.
  • Support wine inventory management, stock rotation, and cellar organisation to ensure optimal storage conditions.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of wines to maintain product quality.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop wine pairing recommendations for seasonal menus and special dishes.
  • Assist in organising wine promotions, tastings, and special dining events.
  • Monitor wine stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.
  • Maintain excellent guest service standards through strong wine knowledge and personalised recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Preferred to have a WSET Level 1 / Level 2 / Level 3 certification or similar basic qualification in wine or beverage service.
  • Basic knowledge of Wine regions, grape varieties, and food pairing
  • Previous experience in fine dining, luxury hotels, or premium restaurants
  • Strong communication and upselling skills
  • Ability to engage guests with enthusiasm and professionalism, providing clear explanations and attentive service.
  • Some experience in food and beverage or beverage service is preferred, with familiarity in serving drinks in a semi-fine dining environment
  • Willingness to work on weekends, and public holidays as required.
